Papyros® Organic Paper is an organic kiln separator that prevents glass from sticking to the kiln shelf during firing.

When placed between the kiln shelf and the underside of a glass project, Papyros® Organic Paper prevents glass from sticking to the shelf during firing. Its sturdy composition provides reliable glass and kiln shelf separation, making it a trusted choice for kiln-formed glass work.

Papyros® Organic is made without harmful additives or treatments, keeping it closer to its natural state. This is reflected in its beige colour when unfired, which turns white after firing. The organic formulation has been re-developed and tested to meet the high standards expected of Papyros® Paper, delivering consistent and dependable results in the kiln.

Key Features:

  • Excellent glass and kiln shelf separation
  • Suitable for one firing, with the potential for multiple firings depending on project and glass type
  • Less mess, does not decompose completely into dust
  • Expired sheets can be folded over using a studio-dedicated spatula, then disposed of or vacuumed using a HEPA vacuum

CORRECT SIDE – Does it matter which side of the paper is up or down? No, both sides of PAPYROS ORGANIC paper perform virtually the same.

RESIDUE ON GLASS – Will PAPYROS ORGANIC leave any residue on the glass after firing? PAPYROS ORGANIC was fabricated to remain intact after firing and not turn into dust. COMPATIBILITY – Is PAPYROS ORGANIC compatible with all types of glass? PAPYROS ORGANIC works with all types of glass designed for fusing.

TEMPERATURE – Is there a maximum recommended temperature PAPYROS ORGANIC can be fired? PAPYROS ORGANIC can be fired in your kiln at temperatures up to 1600°F/872°C. LAYERING – How many layers should I use between the glass and the shelf? A single layer of PAPYROS ORGANIC paper is all that is required to prevent glass from sticking to the shelf at all firing temperatures, from fire polish to full fuse.

CUTTING – Can I cut PAPYROS ORGANIC paper to any size I need? Yes, you can cut PAPYROS ORGANIC to any size or shape you want using regular scissors or a craft knife.
